Day 3: White Plains to Riverdale

This day involved cutting across a few golf courses and other suburban areas. It is interesting how, when you look at aerial maps of certain areas, so many of the green areas are golf courses. You think coyotes avoid these areas? No. And neither do the Lah walkers. Back in New Mexico, my home state, golf courses are much despised for their wasting of water. We pondered the game of golf, a gentleman's game. It involves a strange relationship to space. Throwing a spear seems to make a bit more intuitive sense. Perhaps that is why you must move to the next level of self control to get good at golf and acquire a zen state. Getting out of the golf courses proved a bit more complex than getting in. Good thing it was Easter morning and most people were at church as we walked through their back yards.

We passed through some very ritzy areas in CT- Glenville Rd. This low density living area seemed like prime coyote territory. If there was a destination, an origination to this possible path of dispersal it would have been here. Unfortunately, while it was clear we were in a somewhat "wild" area, there was no way to access it. The nearest parks were out of the way. These huge private properties claimed the space. One of these was literally a castle, which was called Thunderbolt. Then Greenwich CT. Greenwich has some greenspace by the water. It is called Bruce Park. I doubt any coyotes go there. It's not really quality greenspace. It seems to be purely for the visual interest, not actual public experience. There are strange roads cutting through it, no great places to relax or doze, a little too manicured. We suspected this has something to do Greenwich being one of the richest towns in the US.

In general were successful in striking up chit-chat with people. Most everyone understood we were linking a coyote presence from the heart of the city and had something to add. One last thing I want to say is that we ate a lot of fruit and vegetables and they tasted good. Ramsay brought celery and everyone picked up fruit at every chance. Walking and eating fruits and vegetables, try it!

Near the end of the trip, we saw a street sign that was strangely written in Comic Sans font. It said something like:

This was interpreted to mean "Stay right ahead for the vertical infinity".
