My dad is a wine salesman, so when we were kids my brother, sister and
I made small boats out of wine corks and popsicle sticks. We sailed them
down the street gutter after rainstorms. Now that I drink, it is interesting
to think about the history of those corks, and their transference from an
element of adult activity to an element of children's activity. The Splace
Possiblity workshop is a place to use byproducts of daily ritual drinks
like coffee and alcohol as primary materials to build a small boat. The
misspelled "Splace Possiblity" title refers to the possibility
of documenting the displacement of these materials in personal or group
sailing expeditions.
